Marion and Mahaska County law enforcement officials are searching for a Marion County resident wanted in a carjacking of a gray four-door Buick near Bussey Thursday evening. Mahaska County Sheriff’s Deputy Doug McMillan tells KNIA/KRLS News that the suspect was lying on the side of the road when a female driver stopped to see if he needed help. The suspect then jumped up and tried to steal the woman’s car, which also had a baby inside. There was a struggle and the man fled on foot when the woman called 911. McMillan says the man then carjacked the four-door gray Buick, which belonged to another resident. Both the suspect and the car are still missing, and residents are encouraged to contact law enforcement with any information. The suspect has three felony charges pending of robbery, burglary and theft in the second degree. McMillan says residents should never leave their keys in their car, and call law enforcement if they see someone on the side of the road, not to get out of their car.
