The One to Count On...

Pella & Knoxville Girls Meet Again

Ask any of the Knoxville girls basketball squad and they welcome the opportunity to play Pella for a spot at the class three-A state tournament. Both teams split the two regular season games with each team winning on the others home court. Panthers Coach Jim Utimarkt says it may come down to something very small. Knoxville beat Vinton-Shellsburg on Saturday without its top two scorers near their average. Sam Abens had just three points and Steph Kingery scored a three late. Utimarkt was very pleased with the way players like Lacy Stevenson and Ashley Larsen stepped up to score. Meanwhile Pella Head Coach Mike Vint says his team is a slight underdog coming in to this one having lost the last matchup to the Panthers at home. That was the only loss this year for the eighth ranked Lady Dutch. You can hear the play-by-play on AM 1320 KNIA or 92-point-one KRLS tonight at six-45.
