Uncertain variables have reset efforts to transition the VA Campus recently.  That’s according to Knoxville Mayor Harv Sprafka.  He says the federal government told members of the Knoxville VA Taskforce they did not want to enter into a lease-agreement with the city for building a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic, or C-BOC, during a conference call last week.  Past discussions were to have the VA transfer the campus property to the city once the C-BOC is built.  Sprafka says there is land available next to Knoxville Hospital & Clinics for the C-BOC with the plan to still close the campus, and communications with VA officials continue.  Sprafka says city officials also want more information on the actual value of the campus:  as it would cost millions of dollars to build a C-BOC, but the value of the campus, including its liabilities and assets, remains unknown at this time.
