The Pella High School athletic complex should begin to look more like a football facility starting this week, as school officials are hopeful to begin laying down the artificial field turf. Work on the underlying rock subgrade was finished last week, as was the concrete curb separating the playing field from the track. In addition to the work on the field and track, new lights have been put up for the football, baseball, and softball fields, along with the addition of new bleachers on the home and visitors’ sides at the football stadium, and the construction of a new concession stand. Pella athletic director Bill Van Horn tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the football facility is expected to be ready for the Little Dutch home opener on September 4th.
