Knoxville will start its cross country season for both boys and girls tomorrow at the Southeast Polk Invitational. Boys Coach Mike Moats is excited about the team this season and says they may be young but many of the runners are back from last season and have a wealth of varsity experience. He says the sophomores and juniors will need to step into varsity role, but feels confident about the prospects…Girls Coach Erin Mikels is still trying to find out who can run in the top six to seven. She says Jessica Fresh will be the lead runner. She has been getting the girls to believe in the team aspect of cross country and get them to realize they need to support each other…
Both coaches say the Southeast Polk Invitational is a good measuring stick to see where the teams are in the early season.
