In what was once slated for arbitration earlier this year, contract negotiations between the Knoxville school board and the local teacher’s union reached a tentative agreement Monday. Knoxville schools superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says the tentative agreement calls for a 3.1% salary increase proposal, which includes insurance. Flack says although the tentative agreement still has to be approved by both the Knoxville Education Association and the school board, it’s good to settle negotiations voluntarily without having to incur costs and attorney fees from arbitration.
