The 2009 Iowa State Fair comes to a close Sunday, and several Marion County residents will be returning home with blue ribbons in the Fabric and Threads contests. Kay Crawford of Pella claimed first place for a felted tote; Shirley Zylstra of Pella took top honors in two categories; and Connie Bolt, also of Pella won first place for an embroidered holiday decoration. Other Fabric and Threads contest winners included Barbara De Wit of Tracy for towels, and an embroidered garment winner by Janet Westberg of Harvey.
