A Pella man dominated the grapes category of the fruit judging contest at this year’s Iowa State Fair. In all, Larry Engbers claimed the top award in 14 grape categories, along with another blue ribbon in the domestic or wild “small fruits” category. Other area State Fair winners include Karen Spencer of Pella for a basketry entry, and Peter Bailey of Otley in the under 17 age division of the fiddlers’ contest.
