Iowa’s annual sales tax holiday weekend begins Friday. Sales taxes, including local option taxes, will be exempt on nearly all shoes and clothing costing less than $100 each. The weekend often sends many Iowans flocking to their nearest mall, but Pella Chamber of Commerce Director Karen Eischen is encouraging area residents to see what their local stores have to offer first. Jesse Wilson, Executive Office Coordinator for the Knoxville Chamber says the tax-free weekend is a good reminder for residents to shop local year round, which keeps dollars flowing in their communities.
