The Iowa State Fair continues in Des Moines, and Marion County residents are binging home top honors. A spokeswoman for the fair tells KNIA/KRLS News that Denis Johansen of Knoxville won 1st in the “Frames and Clocks” woodcarving category. Amy Turner of Knoxville was named champion in the “Pony Pleasure” horse category, while Jenny Petersen of Knoxville received 1st place in the Sandwich Cookie category. Dick Hilsabeck from Pleasantville also claimed “Most Tan” legs in the Appendages Walk Away category. Numerous other Marion County residents received other honors during the State Fair so far.
