A memorial project by a 2002 Knoxville High School graduate to honor victims of the 9/11 attacks was the focus of a remembrance held Friday at Knoxville high school. Local fire and law enforcement personnel attended the event at the “Living Memorial”— a tribute started by senior Laura Froyen in 2002 which consists of a growth of trees on the south side of the high school. There are plaques on each tree with names of the fire fighters, police officers and other service men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  Shannon Ramsay is President and CEO of Trees-Forever, the statewide group which Froyen partnered with.  Ramsay says Trees Forever has also named Froyen’s project one of the top 20 for the organization in the past 20 years.  Froyen says the Living Memorial is a lasting tribute to past and present first responders.
