September is National Library Card Sign-up Month, and locally the Knoxville and Pella Public Libraries have each taken steps to encourage residents to get their library card. Pella Library Director Wendy Street says a person’s first card is always free, but the Library is offering half-off on additional cards for those needing a replacement. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson says library cards are one of the most important school supplies students can have. Thompson adds that users who have lost their card in the past year can have it replaced free, although it’s three dollars to replace a card lost twice in one year.
