There have been at least five known instances of strangers following or trying to entice children into their vehicles over the past few weeks in Marion and Mahaska counties. That’s according to Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat.  He says three of those instances involved a van pulling up close to the children with the driver talking to them.

Goemaat reminds residents to always watch their children and have them know to never talk to or follow strangers.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the suspicious activity.  Last week the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a woman driving a gray van with possible a black stripe, who pulled up to children in Marion County Park and asked them to get in the vehicle.

Suspicious behavior was also reported in Pella where a white van appeared to be following a group of teenage girls in the area of Dollar General, which was similar to reports received recently by Mahaska County law enforcement.  Goemaat says residents should immediately report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
