A ‘50s rock ‘n roll band that originated on the Central College campus in 1975 will make a special farewell performance as part of this weekend’s Homecoming festivities at Central. “Big Slime and the Stagnant Pool” consists of members who now live all over America, but also includes Steve McCombs and Dick Redman of Pella. The band became part of Central College lore, thanks to their packed-house, end-of-the-year concerts when the audience would come dressed in ‘50s costumes. Big Slime and the Stagnant Pool will perform Friday night at 8:15 p.m. in Douwstra Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public, and has special meaning for the band, as it is for David Roe’s final official Homecoming and Family Weekend as President of Central College.
