Pella Firefighters were paged to the scene of a barn fire late Saturday morning. The fire occurred at a rural residence at 770 190th Street, southwest of Pella. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkum tells KNIA/KRLS News the fire started when embers from a nearby burn pile landed on the roof of the barn. The origin of the fire caused the flames to burn the barn from the top down, which Van Gorkum says is rare. The structure was completely destroyed in the swift-moving fire and a nearby tree was scorched. Fortunately no one was injured. Assisting at the scene was the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Pella Community Ambulance.
