Though there have been plenty of pranks and hijinks during past Homecomings at Pella High School, things have remained on the straight and narrow this week as the students and staff celebrate the annual event. Assistant Principal Eric Nelson credits a restructuring of the Homecoming schedule in years past, and the right combination of students for the success of the celebratory week. Several activities were on the schedule Wednesday, with Thursday remaining relatively calm. There are dress-up themes for the day, though, with freshmen through juniors dressed as “Uptown versus Downtown,” while the senior tradition of togas for “When in Rome” continues. Friday things will ramp back up with pep rallies at each of the schools and a dance following Pella’s football game against Chariton, among other activities.
