Knoxville went 2-3 at the always tough Southeast Polk Volleyball Invitational. The Panthers fell to Pella Christian two games to one, lost to Des Moines Roosevelt two games to none, and defeated Grandview Park Baptist two games to none. Knoxville split its games in the consolation bracket with a victory over Des Moines Lincoln in two games, and a loss to Grandview Park Baptist. Mandi Deutsch had 26 kills on the day while Kelli Danner was perfect in 22 serve attempts. Knoxville is off this entire week from competition due to the fact that Norwalk had to adjust its schedule earlier in the season and left the Panthers with no matches. Coach Eric Fee says he will have to work a little harder to keep the girls focused on practice instead of a match. He says the coaching staff will try to make some of the practice time as game like as possible. One thing he says may happen is what is called a 2-1 drill. That is where one side gets two points for every one other team scores. He says that drill makes the girls work a little extra harder to get the match even.
