PCM Board Secretary Terminated for Bookkeeping Errors

The PCM School Board Secretary and District Business Manager has lost her job in the wake of a $309,000 budget shortfall that was caused by a bookkeeping error. Lisa Waddell’s termination was recommended by PCM Superintendent Jane Babcock on four counts: The accounting error on the special education supplement for the 07-08 school year; the financial consequences of that error; failure to keep bank balances reconciled and current in June and July of 2009; and failure to keep other District obligations and records current. Superintendent Babcock tells KNIA/KRLS News that given the recurring nature of the performance deficiencies, she had no option other than to recommend Waddell’s termination, which was accepted by the board on Wednesday. The duties of School Board Secretary and Business Manager will be split between to people during the interim.
