The Pella Football team was in the driver’s seat at halftime, but a huge momentum swing in the third and fourth quarters allowed Carlisle to steal away a 27-23 Homecoming victory last night. The Little Dutch lead 23-7 through two quarters, but wouldn’t score again after halftime, as the Wildcats rattled off 20 unanswered points and held on for the win.

“The kids are very disappointed. I think we’re all very disappointed,” said Head Coach Jay McKinstrey after the game. “It just felt like it was one of those games that we left out on the field tonight that was a win we should have had.”

Carlisle got a huge night out of receiver Brady Roland, who snagged five big catches for 192 yards, including an 82-yard catch-and-run for the go-ahead score.

Pella had a chance to control their own destiny late in the game, but fumbled on the goal line and Carlisle recovered the ball in the end zone.

The Little Dutch still got a big performance out of running back Bret Bogaard, who rushed for 199 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries, but it wasn’t enough, as Carlisle improved to 2-1 in the District. Pella is now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in District 6.
