As a follow up to the verdict reached Friday in the Steven Dean McGinnis murder trial, the widow of the man McGinnis was convicted of killing speaks to KNIA/KRLS News. Rhonda Ohl says she feels the jury’s decision to find McGinnis guilty of murder in the first degree has done justice to her late husband Robert Ohl. McGinnis’ defense argued during the trial that McGinnis was suffering from an episode of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, and was intoxicated during the incident, among other defenses. However, that was not enough to convince the jury to not convict McGinnis. Rhonda Ohl adds she feels the evidence presented during the trial showed McGinnis pre-meditated the murder and was fully aware of his actions before and after the shooting. The 39-year-old Knoxville resident now has sentencing set for October 23rd.
