The Scholte House in Pella is opening a special exhibit on the heels of a remarkable discovery last month.  A portrait of Nora Scholte thought to have been painted by an unknown artist from Des Moines was found to have been painted by Gerhard Nollen, a professional portrait artist from Pella, in 1896.  Further probing led to the discovery of a second Nollen portrait.  The discoveries add significant new information about Nollen’s career.  The paintings will be part of an exhibit titled “All in the Family,” which begins on Tuesday and runs through October 17th at the Scholte House Museum in Pella.  Self-guided tours can be taken from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Exhibit director Susan Miller will also present a free slide program to the public on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m.  To reserve a seat, call 628-8174.
