The effort to increase breast cancer awareness during the month of October is often a good reminder for many women to get mammograms, and it is important to try and make that an annual practice. Melissa Licktieg, a mammographer at Pella Regional Health Center says the biggest advantage to a yearly mammogram is the ability for doctors to notice any changes and provide early detection, which can help save lives. Pella Regional is offering extended hours in the morning or in the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays to provide more opportunities for women to get their mammograms.
