In other Central College sports action from this weekend the men’s soccer team put an end to some offensive frustration with a 4-1 Iowa Conference victory at Cornell College Saturday. Midfielder Cody Jandik scored a pair of goals for the Dutch. The women’s soccer fell in double overtime to Cornell 2-1. The Dutch are home Wednesday for a league women’s-men’s doubleheader with Luther College. The women’s contest starts at 1 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field, with the men’s game at 3 p.m.

Senior Angie Berry finished 19th to lead the Central Women’s Cross Country squad to an 11th place finish in a 27 team field and freshman John Gonzalez led the Central College men’s squad to a 22nd place finish at the highly-competitive Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational Saturday morning. The Dutch will take next weekend off in preparation for the Iowa Conference championship meet on Oct. 31 in Waverly.

Faith Bliss and Kayla Donner finished fourth in Flight A doubles at the Iowa Conference women’s tennis tourney Saturday. The team received all-conference distinction after reaching the semifinals Friday. Donner and Bliss closed with an 11-6 season mark as the Dutch wrapped up the fall campaign under first-year coach Steve Tyler. Central was 9-7 in dual meets and finished fifth in the conference team tourney Oct. 9-10.
