Here’s a recap of Central College weekend sports

The volleyball team won its final match at the Washington-St. Louis Invitational before adding another victory against Webster Saturday. Chelsea Greiger, a sophomore from Pella recorded 29 digs in the win over Elmhurst, The Dutch return to Iowa Conference play Tuesday, facing Luther College in a 7:30 p.m. match at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.

The Central College women’s cross country team swept the top eight places at the Coe Lamb-Kohawk Invitational Saturday morning, scoring a perfect 15 points to capture the team title. Angie Berry won the meet. Senior Teddy Clark finished third and led the Central men’s squad to a second place finish behind host Coe. The Dutch placed three more runners in the top ten.

The women’s tennis team trimmed Loras College 5-3 to take fifth place at the Iowa Conference tournament Saturday morning. Jaime Ruisch a freshman from Pella won her match at number 6 singles and went 2-0 in the conference tournament. Central closes its fall season with the Iowa Conference individual tournament next Friday and Saturday in Cedar Rapids. There will be three flights of singles and two doubles flights. Central will enter its full 12-player roster, with the top five Dutch players competing in A flight in singles and the top two duos in A flight doubles.

The Women’s soccer team fell to 5th rated Wartburg 7-1. The Men’s soccer team suffered its third consecutive Iowa Conference overtime defeat Saturday, 4-3 to Wartburg College. Central is home again Wednesday, taking on the University of Dubuque in a women’s-men’s twinbill. The women’s game is at 1 p.m. and the men’s game at 3 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field.
