Pella Christian volleyball finished 6th out of 8 teams at a very tough Western Christian tournament Saturday which featured four top 10 ranked teams in Class 2A and 3A. The Eagles finished 3-3 beating Lemars twice 2-1 and 2-0 and Moulton Udell 2-0 and fell to defending Class 2A state champion and 2nd ranked Western Christian 2-0, Sioux City Heelan the top ranked team in Class 3A 2-0 and Sheldon the 4th ranked team in Class 2A 2-0. One big downside for the Eagles was Courtney Kroeze one of their top hitters suffered a high ankle sprain and could be out for a few weeks. Coach John Evenhouse said this was a great learning experience for the girls because they went head to head with several teams that will be in the 2A state tournament and now they see what they have to do to get to that level. Pella Christian gets this entire week off from competition and then heads to the Knoxville tournament next Saturday before starting the postseason a week from Tuesday October 20th at home against Pleasantville. The Eagles are 16-13 overall.
