A pair of local high schools will be competing in one of the region’s largest marching band competitions this weekend. Knoxville and Pella High Schools will each perform at the 30th Annual ValleyFest Competition on Saturday in West Des Moines. Knoxville will perform at around 10:00 in the morning during the class 3A portion of the day show, and Knoxville High School Band Director Ross Leeper says the students are excited to be performing, but are also making sure to have fun during the event. Pella’s marching band is slated to take the field at 9:00 p.m. that night as part of the showdown. Awards ceremonies will be held following both the day show and showcase portions of the event.
