When the cross country season began Pella Christian coach Jocelyn Meinders knew there would be some challenges throughout the season, but she had confidence things would go well. There were only 10 boys out for the squad but she knew those 10 would give their all and be competitive. The boys hard work paid off as they accomplished their goal of qualifying for state by running some of their best times of the season at Monday’s District meet. The boys team consists of Skyler Giddings, Josh Meyer, Devin Veenstra, Jon Lensing, Ryen Van Vark, Micah Spoolstra and Jacob Dahm and Meinders says hey all have a goal of not just running at state tomorrow but performing well and she says there could be a couple top 10 individual performances. On the girls side they Eagles battled illnesses and injuries all season and didn’t have teh season they had hoped for overall, but Michaela Martin and Kim Van Zee each qualified for state as individuals and Meinders says she was very proud to see those two run hard and get to state. The state meet is tomorrow in Fort Dodge.
