Information on the existing water infrastructure in Pella and a cost study of both water and wastewater rates was presented to the Pella City Council Thursday night in a special meeting. Recommendations in line with mandates from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and planning to address future needs of the city of Pella were addressed by both the members of the council and representatives of Howard R. Green, the city’s engineer.

Topics discussed included investing in the city’s water infrastructure, including upgrades to the treatment plant and improving the existing distribution lines. The council also spent a considerable amount of time discussing adjustments to the city’s water and wastewater rates. The topic will continue to be addressed at future council meetings, with decisions to be made by the council before the beginning of 2010.
