“Pella in Pink,” an event sponsored by the Pella Chamber of Commerce begins Thursday. The program is centered on Breast Cancer Awareness Month and includes retail specials and additional events to help raise awareness and benefit local women who have been affected by breast cancer.
Kat Whitson of the Pella Chamber of Commerce says retailers decided to commemorate the event last year with various special offers, and based on last year’s success, the event has added additional ways to draw attention to local programs.
“This year we decided, based on the success of last year’s program, that we wanted to add a few more activities to the schedule, as well as focus around a lot of our local programs that are in place to help women who are going through breast cancer or their families to offer support for them,” said Whitson.
One of the first events is a luminary lighting ceremony that will take place at 6:00 p.m. Thursday night in Central Park. The “Pella in Pink” event runs through Saturday.
