Work on the reconstruction of the North Overlook beach at Lake Red Rock has been slow moving, thanks to last week’s wet weather, but the project continues to move forward. All of the concrete and asphalt in the area has been cleared, along with small trees and brush. John Holt with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says specialized heavy equipment has been brought in for the project, but says they will have to get some cooperation with the weather to make progress on the project.

Holt adds that ten thousand tons of sand has been ordered from TK Concrete, and hopes are for earth-moving and placement of the new sand to be complete before winter sets in. The North Overlook beach reconstruction project, along with asphalt work on the South Overlook boat ramp are currently underway and are both federal flood recovery projects.
