Number 5 ranked Pella had a dominating day in winning the Newton Volleyball tournament Saturday and it was a complete team effort. Hali Steenhoek had a huge day with 48 kills and 15 blocks, Jordyn Vandelune had 28 kills, 17 blocks and 49 digs, Brooke Fessler dished out 132 assists to go along with 17 ace serves and 38 digs, Lindsay Bentzinger had 53 digs and 10 ace serves and Kenzie Vandermolen also had 10 ace serves as well as 36 digs. Pella went 6-0 on the day in matches and 12-2 in games defeating Boone, Harlan and Winterset in pool play then beating Newton, Winterset and West Des Moines Dowling in the championship bracket to earn their first tournament win of the season and move to 23-4 on the season. Pella has a busy week this week and if all goes well, they could all but lock up the Little Hawkeye Conference title. They travel to Knoxville tomorrow, then host cross town rival Pella Christian Thursday. Pella will also host the Pella Invitational Saturday
