Initial work to place a traffic signal at the intersection of Washington and West 3rd Streets in Pella began last week. Concrete bases for the signal posts will have to cure first, and then the contractor will return in 8-10 days to set up the signals themselves. Pella Public Works Director Denny Buyert says the signal should greatly reduce congestion caused by all vehicles having to stop at the existing four-way stop sign.
