Although the warm weather has seen a catch-up on harvesting corn and soybeans, farmers need to file any claims of losses or expected losses by December 10th. That’s according to Beth Williams, farm agent with Van Gorp Insurance of Pella. Dale Miller, Marion County ISU Extension Education Director, says farmers should always be in constant contact with their local crop insurance agents. Williams adds that it is very important that any old grain in bins needs to be measured before any new grain is added on top. Miller says it’s especially important any claims are made now, as farmers could be delayed by weather in the future.
