Wednesday is Veterans Day, and two Marion County Communities will be hosting programs featuring veterans who took part in recent “Honor Flights” to Washington, D.C. The Knoxville Community and Senior Center will begin their Veterans Day service at 10:30 a.m. Event organizer Marilyn Miller says the program will consist of the Knoxville High School Chamber Choir performing, as well as readings by Cheryl Theil and Annie Leonard. Six veterans who went on the recent Honor Flights to Washington D.C. will also discuss their trips. Members from the American Legion and VFW will also be present playing taps at the end of the event. Refreshments and cookies will be provided. Call 842-4274 or 842-6070 with questions or more information.

A program featuring two local veterans will also be hosted by The Pella Public Library. Tony Hoekstra and Bob De Ronde will talk about their flight to visit the National World War II Memorial in our Nation’s capitol with other Central Iowa veterans. The public is invited to attend the program on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Pella Public Library meeting room.
