A Monroe Police officer is recovering from injuries following an accident Friday night. Officer Jeremy Pettyjohn was responding to a call to assist the Prairie City Police Department with a report of a subject carrying a weapon in town, when his vehicle left the traveled portion of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Pettyjohn was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. No subject with a weapon was located in Prairie City. The accident involving Officer Pettyjohn remains under investigation with the Iowa State Patrol.
