Pella Christian opens their girls basketball season tonight when they host Des Moines Christian. The Eagles lost three senior from last years team which finished up 16-9 overall and 9-7 in the LHC, but coach Kevin Van Maanen says he feels confident with the team he has this year. He knows things won’t be perfect in the season opening game, especially with several players getting a late start due to the extended volleyball season, but he says they hope to use their speed tonight.
Van Maanen says he’s expecting a tough game tonight as it took a late basket for the Eagles to beat Des Moines Christian last year and they return just about everybody. The JV plays at 6pm folowed by the varsity around 7:45pm.
