The Pella football team continues their preparations for Monday’s matchup with New Hampton in the Class 3A Semifinals, and once again Pella will have the task of trying to stop one of the top rushing attacks in the state. New Hampton has nearly 3900 yards of total offense this season and 3300 of those have come via the ground game. Brock Boeding leads the Chickisaws with 1601 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns which ranks him fourth in the state. Pella coach Jay Mckinstrey says once again the defense will be tested every play and the goal is to make them go the length of the field, and not give up any big plays or easy scores. So far in the post season the Pella defense has done just that as they’ve been able to withstand strong rushing attacks in each post season game from Williamsburg, Grinnell and Centerville. New Hampton has only completed 36 passes all season for 598 yards so Mckinstrey says its no secret what they’re going to do and if Pella can force them to go to the air that wlll work to Pella’s favor. Pella plays New Hampton Monday at 7:30pm in the Class 3A Semifinals at the UNI Dome. You can hear the game live on 92,1 FM KRLS with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema with pre game coverage starting at 7pm. Due to state regulations the broadcast will not be streamed live on kniakrls.com. The Pella Hy-Vee is sponsoring a bus trip to the game. Tickets for the bus ride are $17 per person which includes a light meal, snack and beverage and tickets to the game are an additional $6.
