It didn’t come easy but the Pella volleyball team battled to a 3-1 win over Bondurant Farrar in the Class 3A Regional Final last night to advance to the state tournament for the fourth straight year. Pella jumped out to a 2-0 match lead winning the first two games 25-21 and 25-19 and had a chance at a sweep, but the Lady Bluejays didn’t go down easy winning game three 28-26 before Pella battled back to win game four 25-20 to get the win. Pella coach Bob Fessler said even though Pella lost that third game they never lost their focus and took care of business. Fessler says the girls never let go of their goal of making it back to state and worked extra hard to accomplish that goal. He says now, they want to go down to Cedar Rapids and win some matches. Hali Steenhoek led Pella with 25 kills, Kelsi Rempe added 17 kills, Brooke Fessler had 45 assists, 8 kills, 5 blocks, and 14 digs, Jordyn Vandelune added 5 kills, 3 blocks and 15 digs, Mckenzie Vandermolen had 5 kills and 12 digs and Lindsay Bentzinger had 26 digs. 4th ranked Pella improved to 3905 with the win and will face Marion in the opening round of the Class 3A State Volleyball Tournament at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids next Wednesday at 7:15pm.
