Pleasantville schools could have a four-day school week early next year. Superintendent Dave Isgrig tells KNIA/KRLS News the school board voted this week to send an application to the Board of Education, asking to use an ‘innovative calendar’. If the application is approved, the district would not have school on Mondays for a 12-week trial period from January through March next year. Isgrig says although finding other ways to raise revenues and cut expenses will be hashed out in the future, the $25 to $30,000 in savings from the four-day week would be another step to try to fill the $310,000 cut in state funding for the district. Isgrig says most of the public supports exploring the four-day week option.
