Bidding will soon be closed on items included in a silent auction at the Vermeer Mill and Pella Historical Village Interpretive Center. Items up for bid include everything from homemade foods to a plane ride and many things in between. Bonnie Verberg, Director of the Vermeer Mill and Pella Historical says the silent auction is a new type of fundraiser for the organization.

“This is something new for Pella Historical. We’ve never really done a fundraiser of this sort before, but we want to build a new float for the 75th Tulip Time,” says Verberg. “For those of you who have never built a Tulip Time float, they are very, very expensive. The estimates we got on this float range from twenty-five to thirty thousand dollars.”

Bids must be submitted by Friday, with the silent auction leading up to Friday’s Dutch American Heritage Day dinner and program at the Pella Community Center. For more information on either event, call the Interpretive Center at 641-620-9463.
