The motto for the seniors on the Pella Christian football team this season could very well have been quality over quantity. The Eagles will graduate just six players from the year’s squad, but all six played significant minutes this season. Pella Christian Head Football Coach Rich Kacmarynski said his seniors provided led the way for a team that had younger players in many of the starting roles.

“Our captains did a fantastic job – Joe and Jamie Blom and Trent Pingel [were our captains] and they did a great job leading; but our other seniors – David Visser, Nathaniel Terpstra and Zach Vos – also just really stepped up and led very, very well,” said Kacmarynski. “We had a lot of young guys in key positions and needed some of these older guys to show them how to do it, and they did a great job.”

Coach Kacmarynski adds that those six were also a model example in the weight room, on the practice field, and in the locker room. Pella Christian made the Substate round of the playoffs in Class 1-A this season and won the District 6 title while finishing with a 7-3 overall record.
