Central College quarterback Nate Snead has been named the Iowa Conference male athlete of the week. Snead passed for four touchdowns and ran for another in Central’s 41-33 victory at Wartburg College Saturday, completing a 10-0 regular season and assuring the Dutch of an outright conference title. He connected on 18 of 21 passes for 202 yards while rushing 18 times for 82 yards. Snead’s 85.7 completion percentage for the game was the second-highest in school history and he set career highs for pass completions, attempts, yards and touchdown passes. Snead directed the squad to touchdowns on six of Central’s first seven possessions. Central, ranked No. 5 in the AFCA Division III poll, and 6th in the D3football.com poll has now captured a record 30 Iowa Conference football titles and is assured of its 20th NCAA Division III playoff berth. The Dutch are off this weekend, then learn word of their playoff pairing when the 32-team field is announced Sunday. First-round games will be staged Nov. 21.
