The year 2009 was an active one for the City of Pella, as many large and important projects were started or put in place for the future. Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini says one of the key projects of the year that many residents may not know that took place was the execution of the city’s pavement management plan.

“What that involved was we physically inspected every street within the city of Pella. Where this information is going to be helpful to us is when we try to assess community needs and street needs – not only in the short term, but in the long term – and look at the amount of pavement miles we have in the city and the condition of those streets, we will have a management tool that will allow us to plan for a better use of city funds.”

Nardini added that along with the pavement management plan, the City of Pella also inspected the underlying water and wastewater infrastructure to assist in future needs planning as well.
