Dance teams from Pella and Pella Christian High Schools will compete in the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Championships, which begin Friday in Des Moines. Forte, Pella High School’s team, will perform in pom, military and kick categories on Friday; while Pella Christian’s dancers will also compete in the military category, but on Saturday.

Other area schools attending include Knoxville, Pleasantville, PCM, Melcher-Dallas, Twin Cedars and North Mahaska, among others. In all, 275 teams will compete in 15 categories during the two-day event, which is being held at Vets Auditorium and Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.

Tickets are nine dollars for one day and sixteen dollars for a two-day pass, and are available at the venue. Competition will begin at 8:00 a.m. each day.
