The Pella School Board approved the construction of a permanent concession stand in the High School at this week’s meeting. The structure will be located near the main doors to the gymnasium and provide more space and secure storage for concession items, as well as a space to display and sell spirit wear. The Pella Athletic Booster club will construct and manage the new concession stand at no cost to the district. Pella Superintendent Mark Wittmer says the district is truly grateful for work that the club puts in.

“I can’t say enough about the people on that booster club. We are so grateful for the work that they do and the amount of time that they spend volunteering,” says Wittmer. “They really make our programs that much better on the athletic side – all of our booster clubs do – but that’s truly appreciated on our part. It certainly is an asset that I don’t think every school district is blessed with like we are, so all we can say is ‘thank you’ to those people.”

Wittmer added that the new concession stand should alleviate some problems that arose with the existing set-up, which consisted of a few tables and beverage coolers lined up against the wall.
