The Central College football team finished the 2009 season at No. 8 in the final D3football.com rankings. Wisconsin-Whitewater was the top team in the final standings, after finishing the year at 15-0 and defeating Mount Union in the NCAA Division III Championship game this past Saturday.

Other notable final rankings include Mary Hardin-Baylor, who edged out the Dutch 42-40 in the first round of the playoffs, finishing a spot ahead of Central at No. 7; and Iowa Conference rival Coe College climbing to No. 10 in the final standings. Central posted its 17th undefeated regular season in 2009 and claimed a record 30th Iowa Conference title.
