Central College associate Head Softball Coach Alicia O’Brien was recently honored by passing 500 career victories in her career. O’Brien was recognized at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association convention in Nashville, Tennessee, and received the Easton Victory Club award earlier this month.

Coach O’Brien compiled a 423-213-3 record in 17 seasons as a head coach at Western Connecticut State University before joining her husband, Central College Head Softball Coach George Wares, on the Dutch coaching staff three years ago. Since then, O’Brien has helped lead Central to an 87-37 mark, giving her a 510-250-3 overall career record.

Last spring, Coaches Wares and O’Brien guided the Dutch to the program’s 10th Iowa Conference title and their 21st appearance in the NCAA tournament.
