In severe weather events like the blizzard that has hit Marion County, law enforcement dispatch often serves as an information hub involving several agencies. Marcia Slycord, Communication Supervisor with the Pella Police Department says in preparing for the winter storm, she coordinated action plans with the Pella Ambulance and Fire Department, along with Marion County Emergency Management and the Marion and Mahaska County Sheriff’s Offices to ensure that a timely response could be made in an emergency situation.
