The Iowa Department of Transportation says it is prepared to handle snow removal on state roads in Marion County as a winter storm bears down on the region. That’s according to Dennis Burkheimer, Winter Operations Administration with the DOT. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that approximately 7-10 trucks will be operating in Marion County and says that each route run typically takes between two to three hours. Burkheimer adds that in severe weather, the DOT routinely calls upon part-time and temporary help to ensure they are not short-handed for snow removal.
