Though they trailed by as many as nine at one point in the fourth quarter, the Pella boys basketball team was able to claw their way back into the game to force overtime before gutting out a 61-58 extra period victory over rival Oskaloosa last night. After the game, Head Coach Mark Core said the comeback was a team effort, but one player stood out in particular.

“We just made a lot of really tough, gritty plays,” said Core. “I guess the player who would stand out in my mind was Josh Pringle…when I think about the hustle plays that got us back in the game; it just seems like time after time Josh was in the middle of it.”

Pringle would finish the night with four points, but snared nine rebounds and hounded Oskaloosa on defense. Also crucial in the win was Blaine Forsythe, who hit the final two baskets of regulation to force overtime and finished as the game’s leading scorer with 18 points. Matt “Bubba” Meyers also finished in double figure scoring with 10 points. The Pella boys are now 2-0 on the season and in Little Hawkeye Conference play, but make a tough road trip to Mount Pleasant today; before having almost a week off from competition.
